With the OptiMate charging technology, we focus on mainly 3 types of li-ion batteries:
Lithium Manganese Oxide (LMO), Lithium Cobalt Oxide (LCO) and Lithium Nickel Manganese Cobalt Oxide (NMC), with a nominal voltage per cell of 3.6v-3.7v and with a maximum charging voltage of 4.2v per cell. NMC batteries are the most popular batteries for E-bikes.
Temperature control: why it matters
Lithium batteries can be discharged over a wide temperature range, but it’s not a good idea to charge them at extreme temperatures. Extreme cold and heat reduce the acceptance of charge. Best battery performance range is between 10°C and 30°C, with the ideal charging range between 0°C and 40°C.
– 20°C and lower: no charge
– 20°C till – 10°C: charge at 25% current
– 10°C till 0°C: charge at 50% current
0°C till 40°C: charge at 100% current
40°C till 50°C: charge at 50% current
50°C till 55°C: charge at 25% current
55°C and more: no charge
